Hi,

Can anyone describe their port of entry experience?

As far as I know there are 2 lines one for non residents and one for the other, which line should I take?

Also are there any procedures that I need to follow at the poe?

3/17/2014: NVC received case

4/16/2014: NVC case number assigned

4/23/2014: DS-261 Submitted Online

4/24/2014: AOS bill generated and paid

4/29/2014: AOS bill shows PAID

4/30/2014: IV bill generated and paid

5/2/2014: NVC receives AOS Package

5/5/2014: IV bill shows PAID

5/7/2014: NVC receives IV Package

5/8/2014: DS-260 Completed and submitted

5/30/2014: Case Complete !!

6/5/2014: CC Email Received

6/11/2014: Interview Date Scheduled

7/17/2014: Interview Date at Mumbai

You will be guided to the respective line/place that you need to go to. They will do your biometrics (fingerprinting), take the sealed envelope from you, verify your information, and approve your entry into the United States.

There are two lines, one for citizens and other for residents/visitors. You stand in the second line. The officers will take your sealed envelopes, ask you a couple of questions, take your fingerprints and then stamp your passport and allow you entry into the US.

I129F sent (CSC) : 02-Jun-14

NOA1 date : 04-Jun-14

NOA2 date : 17-Jun-14 (13 days from NOA1)

NVC Case# Assigned : 02-Jul-14

Consulate Email received : 15-Jul-14

Interview Date scheduled : 14-Aug-14

Interview Status : APPROVED! (71 days from NOA1)

POE date : 12-Sep-14 WE'RE TOGETHER!!

A continuation to this question... how long does this process take? My fiance will be entering JFK airport in NY and I was wondering if he will be in there for a while with the questions/fingerprinting procedures...

There isn't really a specific time period for this process. Some people get out in 30 mins while some stay 3 hours. It also depends on how busy the airport is and how many immigrants are flying in that day.

Just make sure all the documents are kept organised and in order to save time when your turn comes.
