Questions Regarding I-797/Vancouver Consulate Proceedings

Hi there! We'd love some help, any would be much appreciated :)

We received the I-797 from the U.S. Gov informing us that it was approved and it would be redirected to the Vancouver consulate and they would contact us on what they need. On this I-797 "Notice of Action", it says the Approval Notice is valid until August 25th. We are coming up on that date now and still taking care of a few things before submitting (photos, criminal record, etc) but we are wondering - does this date concern us at all? Or is it no longer relevant once the consulate in Vancouver contacts us? We appreciate any and all help! Thank you!

I had the same issue (didn't do my medical/interview until after the I-797 expired) so I emailed them about it and they said:

Dear Melissa,

No worries. When you appear for your visa interview in July 2014, the consular officer will automatically re-validate your petition for a period of another 4 months.

If you do not have an interview at least booked you will need to have the validity of the petition extended by the consulate. Go ahead and contact them about it.
