Dang, it's puttin' down the snow outside!

We've had unseasonably warm weather all winter. Just last Saturday it was 60 degrees! But right now we are getting bunches of the white stuff.

Which sucks because I live in a neighborhood that's down in a 'holler'. The road out is STEEP - the guy who used to plow the road quit, and we haven't found anyone to replace him.

Looks like Wes is gonna have to call off as 'snowed in'.

Its been warm up here in New Hampshire too, not as much snow as usual. The ski areas are really hurting and having to lay off employees. Since this is my first winter up north in quite a while, I am okay with not much snow, but I feel for the employees.

Rebeccajo, you made me smile thinking of the "hollers" of WV :) I went to grad school there and really do love the state. Almost heaven West Virginia!

Charles, I gave up my AWD last summer 'cause the engine was headed south. Front wheel drive now, which is enough to get out of here if the road has at least been somewhat cleared. Right now what we've got is snow coming down, not a plow in sight, and morons who leave their cars parked on the street as slide targets (every house in the neighborhood has a driveway).

ah #######. well front wheel drive ain't as good but it's not as bad as my camaro

something i use here around the house - a gas powered blower - works great on snow  just don't be trying to blow the snow into the wind like i did once

i greatly dislike the cars on the side too, even if a plow does come thru it has to go around them.

You would think people who live in a place that gets snow would have enough sense to move their dayum cars! That's been a pet peeve of mine too :)

Yeah it's snowing here in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia too. Have a good 2 inches so far and still snowing. Hubby got called into work since he works for VDOT but he doesn't mind, it's our first snow fall all winter! We've usually had more by now.

I live in a holler too, Rebecca. I know what you're talkin' about. Stay safe and warm!

Sure . . . closer to Washington DC and all the B.S. that falls!

Nah I'm not that close to DC...I'm smack dab in the middle of the Blue Ridge Mountains!

I guess if the money's worth it, eh?

My hubby travels to Manassas and back every day as it is. That's far enough too. About 40 miles or so each way, I think...

Here's a little video I made earlier today with my digital camera. I wanted to show my family back in Canada what my life was like now but hell you are all my VJ family so why not, eh? It's a bit big so it'll take a minute to load...

(sorry, not meaning to hijack your thread rebecca, but didn't want to start a new thread on the same subject of snow...lol)

Actually one of the worst parts of living in DC (besides the politicians, traffic, congestion, high cost of living and tourists) is that no one knows how to drive in snow around here. They literally abandon their cars when the going gets a little complicated! I have a little '95 Saturn sedan that handles what little snow we get here just fine. It might only be a front wheel drive, but the last big snow we got, I was the only car out there and passed more than one SUV that had skidded off the road. Silly drivers.

Hey Sharon, I saw in the Washington Post that Reinhardt and Patrick have settled their differences and thought of you. How is your job at the Inn going? Nice video btw
