Hi all

I guess I am confused. We received the letter from the US Embassy London on the 8th May and followed the instructions on the checklist.. I completed the DS-160 online form and submitted it on 19th June. I was in the States at the time, so completed the remainder of the steps on my return to England. I attended my medical on 21st July after waiting on my police certificate. I guess I was looking under the wrong section on the CEAC website. After realising and checking again today, making sure I selected 'Immigrant' and entering my LND number, the status now shows 'Ready' with a status updated date of 5th August.... PHEW.... But.... What does that actually mean? Are we now just waiting on an interview date in the post? I noticed on the 'Form Downloads' section that there is a DS-156K and a DS-230 form. Do I need to complete these forms? I am so confused. We were hoping for the first week of September for a moving date.... does that seam slim?

ANY help is much appreciated :)

Hannah

London won't assign an interview date until they receive three things: medical results, completed DS-160 and completed applicant readiness form. From receipt of the last item of the three (any order) it usually takes up to 6 weeks to assign an interview date, which is usually 1-4 weeks from the date of the letter.

Did you complete the applicant readiness form?

If you have (and no, you don't need the DS-156K or the DS-230 for the K-1, I believe, these are old forms) then one other thing you can try is to contact the London visa unit via the online contact form to ask them to confirm if they have received all three items from you as well as your interview date by email as well as post. Make sure to include your LND number as well as the dates the three items were completed.

I know some VJ members (including myself) who have had luck in getting an interview date by following up via the the online contact form.

And sorry to say, the first week of September for a moving date is very tight. Especially as you don't have an interview date assigned yet. After the interview, it can take 1-2 weeks before you get your visa in hand, so you'd need an interview date in the next couple of weeks to make an early September POE. Some people have received short notice interview dates, but there's no guarantee that the visa unit will be able to accomodate you since everyone else will be asking for an early interview date as well. However, what you can do, is to get in touch with them asap (readiness form or online contact form) and set the ball rolling again.

Thank you SO much. Yes, I completed the online DS-160 on 19th June, sent off readiness form as soon as I scheduled my medical and had my medical on 21st July. Hopefully that means we should be assigned an interview date soon. Thanks for the information about the old forms.. PHEW!

Thanks again! Now maybe I can relax a little :)
