Filing DS-260. Passport validation after marriage

Hello, me and my fiance are about to get married. She was selected for further DV-2015 processing so we will send our DS-260 forms after we receive the marriage certificate. The question we have is: does my wife needs to change her passport before filling the DS-260 form? I mean her last name will change and I believe that if she will ask immigration office to get a new passport the passport id number will change also. Maybe the marriage certificate will be ok during the interview and she does not have to change her passport after the marriage to fill the ds-260? Please advise us.

Thank you for your help!

To give a better answer: What is her case number (leaving out last 3 digits e.g. EU16xxx)? When do you plan to get married? How long does it usually take to get a passport issued in your country?

She doesn't need to change it, and depending on timing she it may be inadvisable. If she wants to change it and you have time then no problem waiting. Her green card will be in the same name as passport I believe so looking ahead she may prefer to change it first. Although there is also no problem I believe sending forms after marriage with old passport details and then just taking both old and new passports to interview.

Regulary a new passport can be issued after 1 month. But there are possibilities to get it in a few days (but it costs extra). Our case number is pretty low EU0007XX. We will get married in a couple of weeks, so we were thinking if we could fill her ds-260 with her old passport details and to bring both: old+new passports+ marriage certificate to the meeting and there will be no problems...?

Yes that sounds fine. Be sure to take not just the marriage certificate but some evidence of a real relationship.

The interview will probably be delayed a month or two as you haven't sent forms in yet but will still be pretty early in the fiscal year so no problems at all there.

Good luck with the wedding and the process :)
