I have a question regarding the Montreal embassy. When the time comes to book the interview, is it possible to book one a few months later? I know this might sound like a weird question... but I really want to POE in February in order to get married in April, but I also want to be able to visit in December.

I know I know I'm being picky  but I just want to know how much of this process I can control and fit into our plan! It's difficult trying to plan for something that is unplanned!

First Montreal is a consulate, not an embassy. The only US embassy in Canada is in Ottawa.

You can book further along, many people have done it, however you generally have to get them to extend the validity of your NOA2. Normally this isn't difficult and sometimes with Montreal, you're booking quite in advance anyhow because they give prime booking to spousal visas. Many people are looking for closer dates, not those further out.

There are a few posts already in the Canada forum where people have wanted later dates so you may be able to search those out.

I booked my interview a few months later than I could have because I couldn't get time off work until the summer (was Vancouver though, which probably isn't too much different than Montreal). It was after the expiration of my NOA2, which wasn't a problem - they extended the validity of my petition by another four months when I had my interview.

From what I remember, I had choices of dates to book. At the time I booked appt. in October and first available was Jan 2013. But I think the online calendar allows you to choose a date. I didn't receive my NOA2 until September 25, 2012 (9 months post K1 application).

Good Luck to you!

Yeah, when you register online and pay your fee, it will give you avaliable calender dates. I remember when I booked mine, it was like the next week. The earliest was March, and the next date was all the way in Sept. and I couldn't wait until Sept since, we had a baby on the way.

A little short notice but, I was glad I took that March date because I had to wait about 6weeks for my passport (my case was a little special so, don't judge your waiting time on mine).
