I got GC in June 2006.

I am having an interview in August.

I changed the employer 7 months after getting GC.Will it be a problem? Do IO care about this?

What should i say if they ask this question?..Please suggest.

Nobody cares how many times you change your job or when you change our job. That is your right as a LPR. The only thing the USCIS cares about is that you notify them of a change of address when you move using the AR-11 form. All you do is put your previous employers on the employment history section of the N-400 and you put your previous addresses in that section. Other than that, you do not have to deal with the USCIS until you either renew your GC or apply for citizenship--which it sounds like you are doing, filing the N-400. The USCIS actually care more about the fact that you have filed your axes each and every year after becoming a LPR, number of trips outside the US and their duration, and if you have a criminal record.

Nothing to worry about,

Dave

If asked, simply say that you continued with the employer who sponsored GC for 7 months after getting the GC.

My husband was asked this as he changed jobs two weeks after getting GC. The question simply was, "were you still employed with "employer name" at time of getting GC..He replied yes, and that he changed in two weeks. The officer asked if this new job was "in the same field of work" and my husband said yes (which it was). The officer asked if he had a letter showing dates of employment but we did not bring one with us. That was that.

BTW, this is just general information, but I heard from an immigration lawyer that if the job change was due to a layoff, there are no issues. It is only if you 'use' an employer to obtain a GC and switch soon after, particularly to a new field, that this poses an issue.
