Sooooo, what the heck?

Do I fill out DS-160? or DS-230? what is the difference?

I have two sources that state two different things:

One source:

IMMIGRANT VISA ELECTRONIC APPLICATION (DS-230 and DSP-122)

Please see the instructions for completing DS-230: Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration and DSP-122: Supplemental Registration For the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program.

and another source:

NONIMMIGRANT VISA ELECTRONIC APPLICATION (DS-160) AND CONFIRMATION PAGE.

All K visa applicants should review application instructions and complete the Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic

Application (DS-160) located on this website: travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_1315.html. You must print the DS-160 Confirmation Page that contains the barcode information to bring to your interview.

5/16/2014 - I-129f sent

5/21/2014 - NOA1 Notice Date CSC

5/22/2014 - NOA1 Received via Email

5/29/2014 - Received NOA1 Hard Copy

VJ Timeline estimated NOA2 approval date between June 16, 2014 and June 25, 2014

6/20/2014 - Txt and E-mail received that I-129f has been approved. BOOM :energy:
6/25/2014 - NOA2 Hard Copy

7/2/2014 - Received NVC Case Number via Phone(Called 3 days in a row. Between 6:30 and 7:30am CST. Got through with first attempt. On hold for 30 minutes all three times.)

7/8/2014 - US Embassy of Georgia has received the package

8/7/2014 - Medical Exam

8/20/2014 - Interview date - DENIED. :blink:

9/29/2014 - Mirracle :energy:

10/14/2014 - Visa Recevied.(Extra cost for shipping passport and package is approx $200 :secret:)

11/13/2014 - US Entry!!!! :girlwerewolf2xn:

12/12/2014 - Getting Married (L)

12/27/2014 - AOS Package sent

1/2/2015 - NOA Received

Suggest that you use the specific embassy instructions pertinent to your specific visa, i.e., if you are going for a K1 visa..use that set of instructions.

I was processed through the Sydney, Australia Embassy for my K1. I needed the following:

DS-160

DSL-1076

I-134

+Other docs, such as: medical, police check, letters of intent, passport photos, passport copies, relationship proof and so on.

As far as I know, the old documents (DS-230, DS-156 etc) were all phased out October-ish 2013. We definitely did not need them in November when I sent in my package.

However, someone being processed your county would be a better source of confirmation than I.

2013-09-06: NOA2 I-129F
2013-10-29: Packet 3 (rec)
2013-11-26: Packet 3 (sent)
2013-12-05: Packet 4
2013-12-20: Interview (Sydney)

2014-01-23: POE Los Angeles

2014-02-28: MARRIED

2014-03-28: Filed AoS
2014-04-03: NOA1
2014-04-29: Biometrics
2014-06-12: EAD/AP Combo Approved
2014-06-13: EAD/AP Combo Received
2014-07-10: Deadly Interview Waiver Letter

2015-01-31: Contacted local Congressman's office
2015-02-17: Congressman told "within four weeks"
2015-02-27: Received request for Vaccination page - again!
2015-03-05: Mailed new Vaccinations page
2015-03-09: GC Approved
2015-03-11: GC in Production
2015-03-18: GC collected by USPS
2015-03-19: GC delivered

2016-12-19: Filed I-751

First link I got from the CEAC when it says status READY, they provide with that link. and even though officially K1 is not an immigration visa, all web resources including CEAC website state that it is immigrant visa. So first link would be valid as well:( I guess my only option is sit and wait which one embassy is gonna send me?:(

The disjoint in the classification of the visa types between DHS and DOS can be confusing. If you are chasing a K1 visa at Tbilisi, suggest that you follow the "Nonimmigrant" K visa set of instructions.

07/03/14 Email from USCIS - our case is on processing hold due to pending security checks
08/04/14 No update from USCIS. Filed a case with CIS Ombudsman
08/05/14 Senators/Congresswoman cannot help with my case because security checks are pending
08/05/14 Another Service Request created by Tier 2 since no response from TSC.
08/18/14 Email from USCIS in response to second service request - still on processing hold due to pending security checks
08/21/14 NOA2 (finally after 7 months)

08/25/14 Email from USCIS - approved case shipped to NVC on 8/22/14
