Hello everyone,

I am new to all this and need some help. I am a US Citizen and have applied for my wife - who is residing in india. I have filled out the I-130 form, submitted all the docs, wife went for the interview and was given the 221g form -> asking for pictures of the actual rituals and traditional marriage.

My question - How long do i have to submit the pics? It is 22Jun today - can I submit them in Dec 2014? after 6 months? The reason is that - we just did a simple ceremony and didn't do the whole indian traditional wedding - as I am not really into the whole indian customs and traditions. We did the simple ceremony which included the ring ceremony, mangal sutra, sindoor, flower garland. We invited 300 some ppl and all these pictures were submitted. They still asking for "Photos showing Petitioner and Beneficiary have completed all of the wedding rituals as required under the Gujarat Marriage Act"

1) Do i have to go to india asap and do a small traditional indian ceremony and get married again and have pics taken?

1) I can go to india in Dec 2014 as i can get vacation time - and then do this traditional indian marriage.

Please help me on this deadline question

Thank you

S.

My husband was also given a 221g on the beginnig of this month vut for different reasons. They wanted me to file taxes even though I didnt work last year....? I can't believe though they are wanting more pics of yor wedding, thats just redicoulos..... anyhow as to my understanding on the 221g it says you have obe year to submitt the paperwork.... so December should be fine but keep in mind that until you file the paperwork they requested your wife will not get her passport back and you are prolonging your case it could take months after that until they even get back to your case... good luck :)

Thank you EDITAB for your input...and yes, it is 1yr. I called the consulate a few times and spoke with different customer service agents and i finally got the answer: I can submit MORE PICS within 1yr.

Thanks to them - I have to go to india again - spend thousands of dollars and actually conduct the ceremony. I dont want them coming back to me saying - o it was too small of a ceremony...now i have to havea full blown indian marriage..

Thanks again

Best of luck to you and your husband
