I sent in my packet of adjustment of staus for my wife and my step child. I sent it off on May 24 and have not heard back from them on it. Her visa will expire on 7 july 2014. With her visa expiring on 7 july 2014 that also ends her military medical benifits because she is pregnate. Do they send something extending her visa or do we have to wait for them to contact her. I am also retired military so experation dates freek me out. Please any advice will help. Thank you in advance.

Once they accept AOS application, they will send you NOA1(notice of action) I-797c, which will give her authorized period of stay known as " Pending AOS applicant". That is authorized period of stay until final decision of AOS application so your wife won't be illegal or undocumented and she can still be on your insurance. Good luck.

February 28- AOS package sent. ( I-130, I-485, I-765)
March 5- Package delivered to USCIS Chicago.
March 11- Email and text notification with Receipt Numbers.
March 14- Hardcopy of NOA1 for all three applications.
March 21- Received biometrics appointment letter for 04/04/2014
April 2 - Completed Walk in Biometrics appointment successfully. (Original Appointment was for 4th April)
April 9- I-485 Case status has been updated to " Testing & Interview "
April 16- Text and email alert for case update for AOS interview on 22nd May 2014.

It may take up to 30 days for uscis to send a notification. Were you able to track the AOS package and confirmed as received? One other method of verifying this is if your check is cashed.

Btw, the K1 visa is null and void after POE. The expiration date stipulated on the visa itself only states the period when she can enter US. Her I-94 dictates her 90-day authorized stay. Once you receive the NOA of the I-485, this will be her new proof of a lawful presence in US until she receives either the EAD/AP card or GC, whichever comes first.
