Hi everyone!!

I am about to start to get K1 visa with my fiance.....

While I was looking at the check list of I-129F. There is....

13. Proof of Legal Name Change if either the US Citizedn and/or fiance(e) is using a name other than that shown on the relevant documents.

You must give USCIS copies of the legal documents that made the change, such as a marriage certificate, adoption decree or court order.

I didn't really get what that means.

I mean i was married and divorced.....i had my ex husband's last name while I was married but my last name was the way it was after i got divorced. I know i have to get devorce certificate but do I also need marriage certificate too??

If anyone know about it, please let me know.

Thank you....

What they mean is if you still use your married last name but your passport has your maiden name on it then you need to provide marriage license or divorce decree to show name change. But if you was married and used your ex husbands last name and still are using your ex husband's last name and all your documents like a passport has your current last name ( ex husband's last name) then your fine cause all documents are the same.

When you send in the petition I-129F and you are the petitioner then you must provide a divorce decree so it shows your free to marry again. The beneficiary will have to provide a cenomar.

Oh ok so if I'm divorced then my passport n everything is back to my original last name(not my ex's name) , I should be fine n not worried about marriage certificate?
