Hey all, anyone got experience with damaged visa packets? Ours arrived with a 2.5 inch gash on the lower left hand corner. We didn't notice until we took it out of the outermost plastic cover. Our current plan is to take it back to the embassy for assessment. Advice? Experience?

07/29/2014 - NOA1

11/19/2014 - Transfer to TSC

12/19/2014 - NOA2

01/15/2014 - NVC Received (TSC held it for 3 weeks...)

02/19/2014 - Case no. and IIN assigned; requested embassy change

02/27/2014 - DS-261 available and submitted

02/28/2014 - AOS available and paid

03/19/2014 - AOS mailed

03/27/2014 - AOS entered into system

03/24/2014 - New case no. assigned

03/25/2014 - IV fee invoiced and paid

03/28/2014 - IV package sent via FedEx

04/26/2014 - case complete

06/01/2014 - passed interview

That wouldn't be a bad idea to have someone at USEM exam the package. At least, it would give you peace of mind.

Contact USEM first to see how they want to handle it, they might have 2Go pick the package up from you or you drop it off to 2Go. Don't think the beneficiary will be allowed to enter the compound without an appointment.

Yes for sure contact USEM about the tear in the envelope. It will most likely have you return it to replace the torn envelope.

Got the visa packet resealed in one visit, but embassy staff put up a resistance. We provided our itinerary to show that our flight this week, and at each step they asked about our departure date. Other applicants were forced to send back their corrections via 2go since they had not yet booked a flight.

07/29/2014 - NOA1

11/19/2014 - Transfer to TSC

12/19/2014 - NOA2

01/15/2014 - NVC Received (TSC held it for 3 weeks...)

02/19/2014 - Case no. and IIN assigned; requested embassy change

02/27/2014 - DS-261 available and submitted

02/28/2014 - AOS available and paid

03/19/2014 - AOS mailed

03/27/2014 - AOS entered into system

03/24/2014 - New case no. assigned

03/25/2014 - IV fee invoiced and paid

03/28/2014 - IV package sent via FedEx

04/26/2014 - case complete

06/01/2014 - passed interview

God has perfect timing; never early, never late. It takes a little patience and it takes a lot of faith but it's worth the wait. ❤️

Your envelope is fine, that itsy-bitsy tear is nothing to be concerned about.

Geez! i don't know where that itsy-bitsy tear came from. I know immigration in the states are strict that's why im really paranoid. Maybe they will send me back home.

It came from the embassy ;) You never removed the envelope from the plastic bag, and only cut a tiny opening to remove your passport. :)

You have no worries... only tears they are concerned about at POE is if it looks like it is tore enough to access the documents.

Glad you got the resealed.

Did you get the CFO sticker yet?

Yes, thanks for asking. We're ready to go home! The CFO stapled the CFO certificate in the passport, along with the CFO sticker. I Noticed that others only got the sticker in their passport. I guess this might be because my wife attended the seminar a few years ago. Not sure what difference that makes. Edited by En-oh-eh-to now

They did the same things with my wife's certificate, not sure why they staple it in there.
