Today i got a email from the NVC saying they reviewed all the papers i send in for my wife and they need the original copy's of her Birth certificate, marriage certificate and Marriage Termination and a copy of her passport. when i did send in the paper the first time i thought what i send in was copy of everything but when i call them i was told they need all the document with the government seal on them. So i just want to let all newcomers to please check all what you send in before you do. I had copy's of all of your paper but that was not good enough for them. I was so happy my wife had the all that we need and is sending it to me by DHL. My one question is? When they ask for a Divorce paper and then ask for the Divorce Decree what is the different?

NVC requires all original or notarized copies of those documents. If your copies are not notarized you will get check listed. The marriage certificate would be from your current marriage and they would want to see any divorce documents from your previous or your wife's previous marriages.

Notarized is not correct. They want CERTIFIED copies, which is a copy from the original issuer. If you send notarized copies you will get a checklist.

The NVC website clearly states they need original or certified copies.

Only the beneficiary's documents need to be included in the Immigrant Visa package. You do not need to send the petitioner's previous divorce decrees or military records etc. Just the beneficiary.

The AOS items can be photocopies (except for the AOS form itself must contain original signatures) and the biodata page of the beneficiary's passport will also be a photocopy.

OP it's good to remind people of this however, as sometimes in our rush to get our loved ones from point A to point B, we may overlook or go too fast. Take your time with all documentation and forms. It's better to check 15 times than make yourself wait because something was wrong. :)

DIVORCE DECREE ISSUED BY OFICIALIA DEL ESTADO CIVIL. ( ACTA DE DIVORCIO INEXTENSA Y LEGALIZADA)

DIVORCE SENTENCE ISSUED BY CÁMARA CIVIL Y COMERCIAL. (DOCUMENTO CON VARIAS PAGINAS CON LA SENTENCIA DE DIVORCIO DONDE DICE LOS MOTIVOS DEL DIVORCIO, MANUTENCIÓN Y CUSTODIA DE LOS HIJOS SI HUBIERON ASÍ COMO REPARTICIÓN DE BIENES EN COMÚN.

they was asking for her last marriage papers. she found them. It has about 5 pages with it.
