New DR Rules for Children?

My husband said he heard yesterday on Dominican television that it is taking 2 years for children (under 21) to complete the immigrant visa process to the US. Is anyone familiar with new regulations or related press releases from the DR Consulate? I found NOTHING in online.

Is this the lag time for permanent residents who are petition?I am an American citizen and will be petitioning now for my stepson.

I did the find on the DoS page about filing immediately after the I-130 is received, for a nonimmigrant visa (K4).

Anyone have info regarding this process/changes to the process? Gracias!

I'm not 100% sure about what he heard. But I can say that in Feb 2014 I (U.S. Citizen) petitioned for my step daughter the I-130 and was approved by USCIS in June 2014. Hope this helps.

Processing time for children (>21) of LPRs (F2A category) is different for children (>21) of USCs (IR2/CR2). F2A is the same for almost all countries except for F2A Mexico.

F2A will take a year or more, while IR2/CR2 will take more or less a year.

Basically, IR2/CR2 is quicker.

He doesn't remember the news station either. I am going to make an appointment at my local USCIS office and gather some info. Of all the crappy things related to this process, I actually got to know a very nice (German I think) gentleman who is an immigration officer here in Pittsburgh. He is very patient with our questions and hopefully he will steer us in the right direction.
