Hello friends,

I have my appointment for the fiancée visa on June 18th but I have not been able to get my police certificates. I went to the local office but they gave me some random number to call because the certificate ps they give are only for public officials so I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can get my police certificates from Mexico and how would I go about getting them?

Thanks in advance!

My husband has his interview last september, he never got a police cert and did not need the police cert. they told him it is not a requirement in Mexico unless you have recent arrest in Mexico.

The old instructions stated you only needed to bring criminal records if you had a criminal record, and you did not need a police certificate then. The instructions changed in Oct. 2013 and they now state a police certificate is needed. You can try City Hall and/or the Ministry of Safety-SSP(Secretaría de la Seguridad Pública) to obtain a police certificate(certificado de no antecedentes).

I already spoke with you through private messages, but wanted to go ahead and post this in the public for others that might need this info too.

Why on this site does it say under Police Certificate that it is "unavailable"? http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country/MX.html

I'm so confused on whether we will need to send one with the IV package or not.

Hello!

Well I got my certificate but it is only for people who live in Estado de Mexico. If he lives in the Distrito Federal he will not be able to get it. I had my interview on June and all I can say is that they did not even bother to ask for a Police Certificate. I even asked the officer and told me "oh we don't need it" Just like that!

Best of luck!

Thank you! I actually found out from a few people who recently had interviews in Ciudad Juarez and it was not needed for the interview, nor did they send it with the IV package to the NVC. :)
