Howdy!

We received an email tonight notifying us of a July interview appointment but there is no case number on the email? Is that normal?

They usually put the case number as the subject on the email. That's how the embassy communicate with the beneficiary. I had it on my email for interview schedule.

We received the same email with that exact subject. Me claiming relative ignorance and haste have completed my ds-160 and paid my mrv, using the case number from the USCIS. I figure if there was an updated number it would have been provided in the email. As it wasn't I only have the previous case number and used it. Many people do these applications without using visajourney or the likes so if they have no clue of a number update, this shouldn't be incorrect.

Look forward to your update however. I also plan to contact the consulate tomorrow just to double check.

The case number is provided in the NVC letter (the one confirming your case has been forwarded to the embassy). However, it seems many people receive the NVC letter only after the email from the embassy. This was the case with me.

As I didn't know my case number, I have just replied to the embassy email with my full name and date of birth and asked them to provide it. They responded in less than 24 hours. A few days later my fiance received the NVC letter and the same case number was listed there too.

This is not the same as the USCIS case number. I am not sure if using the USCIS number in the DS-160 can cause any problem.

BTW, I am the beneficiary. I had my interview in Sydney this week and was approved.

Thanks for the information. I don't know if it can cause any issues with the DS-160, so I have emailed the consulate as well. A new application can be created from the current DS-160, so I am not worried just yet. Will wait and see what there response is, and if another DS-160 is needed then another one is needed :)

I'm also the beneficiary and congratulations on your approval.
