California Service Center - RFE response to be sent to P.O. Box?

Hi All,

I received an RFE and sent back my response, but I'm just just a little worried about it. I have seen that some people have said they sent their response over night by courier, but seeing as though the only address provided to me was a P.O. box, the courier option wasn't doable without a signature. Please let me know if this is right...????

If the address you had was a PO box, and you used the US Postal service, you'll be fine. No worries. Any courier should not have accepted a package addressed to a PO box.

Thanks pushbrk, but I was just wondering would you happen to know if responses are usually sent to a P.O. Box or a direct address where a human can sign for the package? My I -797 did not actually state where to send my response, but it did have the p.o. box address in the lower left corner of the sheet detailing what I needed to send back.

I'm afraid that I may have sent it to the wrong place since others were saying the were able to courier their responses.

There is a courier address listed for each USCIS service center, but it is not on the RFE itself. However, the RFE does indeed give you instructions on where to mail your response. You are specifically instructed to mail it to the address "at the bottom of this notice".

By the way my notice did not say this. I looked over and over for aother address, but this is theonly one I seen.

I didn't say a courier address was on your notice. I specifically said it was not. Whether you saw the instructions or not, if you used the US Postal Service and mailed to the PO Box at the bottom left of your blue notice, you have nothing to worry about.

Those who couriered their responses, went to the trouble of looking up the physical address to use.

I told you that your notice did, in fact tell you to mail the response to the address on the bottom of the notice. If you don't see that instruction, look again carefully.

Sorry pushbrk I think you've misunderstood me. I was not saying that you said the courier address was on my document. I was simply disputing that the document said " to mail the response to the address on the bottom of the notice", because it did not. It only said to send the response by August 6th. My husband and I checked both documents over and over again, and since they didn't s Pacifica state where to send it or where on the document I could find to address to send the to. I just assumed that was the address.

I am so happy and curious at the same time! My RFE response was delivered today and someone signed for it??? At a P.O Box??? Weird!!! My status also changed to rfe response review soon after!!! They must have nothing to do up there in California! Lol! Thanks again pushbrk!! :-)

You never confirmed that you used the postal service, but evidently you did, with some sort of service that required a signature. If that was your issue, of course you can get signature confirmation when "mailing" to a PO box. Not sure why anybody would think otherwise. Somebody goes to pick up the mail every day, and they sign for what needs to be signed for.

ONLY postal service delivered mail can be signed for though. In my first post, I told you any "courier" should not accept mail addressed to a PO box but the POST OFFICE the P....O.... in PO Box, certainly can.

Ah! Now I understand. The lady at the post office led me to believe there would be no signature was only getting express service. Thanks for clearing it up for me. I'm just really excited and shocked that my case status changed so quickly. :-)
