I am under the 2014 poverty guidelines by a 1,000. So my mother will be householder that I can combine my income with. Combining her income with mine will put me over the guidelines by 5,000. But my concern is that at the interview they may reject because household member only makes 6,000 a year. Or will they even look at that? Would it matter at all as long as im meeting the guidelines? Does anyone have any experience with this? Thank you a head of time.

Not sure I understand what you're saying, but you can't just add your mother's 6,000 to your income. You'll have to meet the minimum for 3 people if you're using your mother as co-sponsor. (You have to include her, too.)

As I know you CANNOT combine or add your mother's income to yours. What you can do is to find someone that makes exactly or above the poverty guidelines this individual will be your joint sponsor.

Does the petitioner have to file an affidavit of support if he or she cannot meet the income requirements and there is a joint sponsor?

Yes. The petitioner is still a sponsor and must file an affidavit of support, even if he or she cannot meet the income requirements. The petitioner remains fully liable, along with the joint sponsor, for any benefits the sponsored immigrant(s) may use. The joint sponsor must file a separate affidavit of support.

As a relative and householder member i can add her income to mine. She is counted in the number in the household. She needs to fill out the 1864A contract between sponsor and household member. I was hoping to hear some experiences. I really have no one else..Im just worried about the interview. Are they going to make an issue of it or do they just take into consideration that i made the income requirement.
