Visiting Canada while on Visa Waiver in the US

Hello everybody!

Probably posting this in the wrong sub-forum, but here it goes:

A Danish citizen living in Sweden wants to visit the US on the Visa Waiver program. Because he will be staying in MN, a short drive away from Canada, he would like to go there as well. The issue is that we aren't sure if him exiting and then re-entering the US a couple of days later would constitute a problem.

Any thoughts?

He can do it, but it won't "reset" his I-94. His period of authorised stay will remain the same, and he won't get a fresh 90 days just by going up into Canadian for a while.

Trips to Canada, Mexico, or nearby Islands

If you are admitted to the United States under the VWP, you may take a short trip to Canada, Mexico, or a nearby island and generally be readmitted to the United States under the VWP for the remainder of the original 90 days granted upon your initial arrival in the United States. Therefore, the length of time of your total stay, including the short trip, must be 90 days or less. See the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) website.

Just double checking that it is possible.

He wants to stay for a month altogether, so that isn't an issue.
