5-6 month horror stories? You are truly spoiled.... 5-6 months was the norm for a long time.

I think USCIS has been expediting all petitions for the Philippines since Yolanda... you know the one band-aid approach. Which has caused a serious bottleneck at the embassy for sure. :)

Just because it is the norm does not make it a non-horror story. USCIS timetables by definition come out of a fright book.

I hope the Yolanda crunch eases up soon. I read complaints on all the regional forums about how long it takes to get an interview date, but no dates even available truly takes the cake.

Still that USCIS Yolanda expedite may very well have been the fuel that powered my free ride to a 71 day NOA2. Notice that I am not complaining.

It took 141 days for our petition to be approved, but only 43 days after that we were done with the interview, and almost two weeks of that was waiting for NVC and getting MNL#.

My crazy guide can get a person done with the interview very quickly.... IF only the embassy were handing out appointments...

You did OK with your time.

We actually did not try hard to grab earlier dates once we got the 2 1/2 month interview date because Candy had 4 OFW posts, and we needed every bit of those 2 1/2 months to get the 4 COCs. Any shorter date would have resulted in a 221(g).

Once the petition was done we relaxed, heck it was almost 2 months after the interview before we flew back to the states. Visa was tucked away in a locked suitcase

I don't have that luxury. Candy is in the province now with her family. I arranged for that since that is the happiest place she can be while she waits. Once the visa is in her pocket, the New York Express leaves the ground the next day.

The real problem with waiting now is that she has no job. It was in Hong Kong, and she had to quit to do the medical and interview. I am supporting her now, which is no moral problem for me of course, but it is eating into money I set aside for her support once she is here.
