Hey

husband just got out of interview and got a 221g

on the 221 paper it requests a lsit of 30 wedding attendees

If we submit this does this mean most likely we will be approved?

Is this a tactic thats used simply to stall things so they investigate more?

im not quite sure what to think of this. has anyone else ever received this?

does anyone know how long it takes for this to clear if after we submit the list?

is this a quick thing or is this gonna be a few more months!

i would appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced this

(i knows someone who did)

thanks

sam

They want a list of 30 people that attended the wedding. If you have some photos, wedding certificate, I would add that also. But at the moment, you need to provide a list of 30 people that attended the wedding. If that is all that they are asking for, they will probably issue the Visa after they receive what they want. Don't know how much time will pass, as the Consulate works in their own time.

They are probably looking for more proof that a wedding occurred. They could also want to have names that can be used in the future to go back and to validate exactly "who" this man is should they investigate later. Since Sept 11, 2001, things have changed and people are more likely to be looked at with more detail. It is probably the "new" normal.

did you have this happen to you as well? ie experience?

we had submitted with our original application the marriage certificate and photos as well

in fact we had 2 certificates, 1 from the court (we did a court marriage) and then we did a temple ceremony for us and family and the temple gave us a certificate as well.

No ManuNSam, I have not experienced this. Didn't know that you had already submitted photos & certificate. So the Consulate already has the wedding certificate and wedding photos. So I can only guess that the reason for the list names is something security related. They won't ever say for sure, so all you can do is give them the 30 names that they requested.

But I do understand that the Consulate can do some goofy things. Many of us here can atest to that. Just reading posts here at VJ proves that! I am sure that you will be fine after submitting the list of wedding attendees. This is just a delayed granting of the Visa, not an outright rejection.

221 g is a TEMP denial. in your case it means " we need more information"

until you submit what is requested. you are DENIED. for some reason the embassy is questioning your marriage!! satisfy the embassy and the case will move on.

you may still not be out of the clear.!!! you more than likely will have security checks ordered.

so your AP process will NOT start til you give the list to the embassy. AP takes from

17 days - 2 years. so its best to step it up and comply with the embassy now! so the AP process can start. we have been on AP 1 year and 5 months. < we are done now >
