Hi guys and gals,

Mathew here, im new to this forum, and immigration in general.

I hope you can all help me. I have fallen in love with a 20yo female from Missouri and recently got back from a 2 week visit at her house, where she lives with her mum, dad and brother. She does not work and has graduated school. Her parents both have jobs paying just above $20,000 each per year. They file their taxes jointly. Can anyone assure me that this will be enough for them to act as my sponsors?

Please allay my fears we will be unable to be together.

Thanks

Mathew

I have attached the 2014 HHS Poverty Guidelines. This document can help answer your question. You will need to know the number of people in their (your girlfriend's parents) household and if they have sponsored other immigrants. If there are 3 people in the household (2 parents and girlfriend) add yourself for a total of 4 people in the household. An income of $39, 962.00 can cover a household of 6.

Thats great help thankyou,

Can you tell me if it possible to count her parents income as one income in order to meet the poverty guidelines?

Thankyou

You can only count the income of people, who sign as co-sponsors for I-134 Affidavit of Support. If both Mom and Dad sign - then yes, it's possible.

The I-134 does not allow for the combining of income, so, no, either one of your parents would have to qualify on their own.

if you have assets of your own, london allows for the immigrant to self-sponsor...check out the UK subforum for more info on self-sponsoring.

Flying to Seattle on 6 May 2014!
