Hello,

I got a fast approval to NOA2, but I hear for NOA3 it can be awhile for Guangzhou, China.

I am in China now wanting to help my girl. Will she need all the things outlined in this pdf or will the NOA3 tell me specifically what she needs?

Jeremy

She will need to get everything that is applicable to her situation. If it doesn't apply (i.e., military records, divorce, etc.) then you can skip that item. The documents will have to be official/notarized and translated into English. For the notary documents, I would suggest that she order more than one copy. Also, remember that the police certificate has a limited "life" so the timing of when you obtain is important. Good luck on your journey!

OP: I think that you are using an old document, the address at the top of the sheet is the OLD consulate address.

This may be a newer version (note the new consulate address), with more current instructions:

http://ustraveldocs.com/cn/K1%20Instruction%20GSS%2007102013%20%20with%20new%20address.pdf

The pinned thread at the top of the regional forum page, Chinese Marriage Visa Terms and Definitions, has some good information on document requirements. Agree with glh618, it is a good idea to get multiple copies of the "White Books" now. It may be difficult to obtain them later on when living in the US.

Good luck on your visa journey.

Those instructions are outdated:

1. COnsulate moved and

2. DS-230 no longer used and

3. no reference to ustraveldocs.com/cn which handles stuff with the K-1 and provides different instructions than the link you've posted.

So, I invite you to set up an account at ustraveldocs.com/cn ,

pay the visa fee,

set up the self-schedule bits,

and pay attention to Packet 3 and Packet 4 thingies.

White book(s ) requirement not change, so that's a plus.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Uncle Darnell makes a good point. Since usatraveldocs.com took over, it has become a bit of a black hole as to the new requirements/instructions. Suggest that you follow his advice.

I know that we followed his advice when we had our turn in Guangzhou. He was extremely supportive and helpful. Xie xie

Which brings me up to a question for Darnell. I could have sworn that I saw him in the park across the street from the old consulate. I wonder if he has a new roost near the new consulate digs?

Good luck on your immigration journey.

being able to pay is always a clouded trigger point in the process for Guangzhou.

P3/No P3, etc etc etc.

The trigger point I find useful - is the CEAC casefile status - take the GUZ # that you can get from NVC (via telephone)

then plug it into CEAC status portal thingie - check it every other day.

when first you see it flip to 'administrative processing' that's the sign that GUZ IV has opened the casefile.

That's the trigger point to pay the Visa Application Fee at CITIC bank then things flow from there at the ustraveldocs.com/cn portal

re: white books - did you read the pinned topic in this sub-forum? if no, please click the word 'China' above,

and read it - it's the first post.

marriage-abillity status on the USCitizen - present divorce decrees on interview day . if you were getting marrid in china, you would be doing other stuff - since yer not - no visit needed to get this done.

single status on the PRC person - same place that issues the birth certificate can get a single status certificate thingie (record of no-marriage) else bring the divorce decree white book thingie.

Yes, that pinned thread is invaluable in trying to sort out the various required documents and accepted format that are China-specific.

Hello Darnell,

I believe I seen you mention using your hukou to go to the hukou place to first get a document then go to the notary office to certify that for Birth Cert or can you just bring the Hukou to the notary office.

uhm -

use hukuo to create:

1. birth certificate

2. marriage status [if never married]

that's done at the registry office. this produces a chinese version. then must go to 'that other office' to get it translated into English, as a notarial translation, commonly referred to as a white book.
