Supporting Evidence Query

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question around supporting evidence for proof of bonafides. First, a little bit if my background. I met my wife online about 5 years ago, but it took us a very long time to get together (mainly due to my naivety). We finally managed to get our feelings out and became a couple early last year. I entered on the VWP last October with no intentions of getting married, but we made a snap decision one evening in New Orleans and went for it. We're very happy together and have just filed our I-130.

My question is this; we are holding a further mock ceremony (more of a celebration) this November in England for family and friends that couldn't/didn't attend last year. Do you think invitations/letters relating to this celebration would constitute a good form of evidence, or just make the interview at the consulate more difficult?

It seems unlikely that you will require further bonafide evidence; the UK consulate rarely, if ever, asks for it. Besides, I think it might cause confusion, if someone thinks you weren't married yet when you filed your I-130. (Marriage certificate notwithstanding, it appears that some of the people processing petitions aren't very clever.)

However, if you have already had the party before your interview, take some photos with you, in case you need to show them (again, unlikely but possible) to show your ongoing relationship.

Agreed. It's not likely you'll need extra ("evidence" not "proof") of your relationship bona fides. It's the UK.
