When I checked the Dept of State website and put in our case number I received a message saying that your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the US Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment.

Does anybody know exactly what this means , I tried CGI Stanley and was unable to schedule an interview.

Thanks

IMO,

this (CEAC status) means:

1. the casefile is inside the IV Unit at Guangzhou and

2. the casefile has been opened.

So, if yer lass has paid the Visa Application Fee, and has the receipt #, she is allowed to schedule online at that backwards ustraveldocs.com/cn website.

However, she might not get an appointment, as new slots are released on a schedule that no one understands.

This is normal for your casefile type (Not the OP's)

as the final namechecks are started at the IV Unit,

and (If you used EP) the electronic version of the casefile, stored inside SAFEFILE,

was retrieved successfully and a local casefile started.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Ok I went to us travel docs and logged in to select an appointment date, got to the passport ID section and it wants my wife's name in Chinese characters, which I can't do, so she needs to fill out the form from her home computer in China. It says on the website that the first appointment is April 22nd. My question is , can she make an appointment without us receiving a letter saying to make the appointment? Or is that standard operating procedure that the letter may come later. We do have that message on the DOS website that says our case is ready for an interview. If she is allowed to schedule an interview, it won't hurt our case will it
