Hi. I have a quick question regarding contact from the Embassy. I received my I-129F approval letter last month (March) and it states that my petition is "now forwarded to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate and that they will contact my fiancee when they are ready to process his or her petition. In the meantime, please have your fiancee and his or her children visit ceac.state.gov and complete Form DS-160 to apply for a K visa."

My question is, how long does it take for the Embassy to contact my fiancee? I had thought maybe a couple weeks, but it's been a month and I am getting antsy. I appreciate all the feedback and comments.

FYI, I had just completed the DS-160 just last week, so do not know if that is the cause for the delay?

Thanks!

I don't think that's an unusually long wait. If you look at my signature, it was about 3 weeks between receipt of NOA2 and the file arriving at NVC, and then my fiance got the "packet 3" letter about a month after that (so a total of almost 2 months).

Have you tried calling to see when/if the file was received at NVC?

Thanks for the reply Protocol417.

I probably wasn't too clear on my original post. I had received my NOA2 around February 20th and my NVC letter March 11th. So it has been a month since the NVC letter. I suppose that isn't that long of a period. I will wait a couple more weeks before I truly worry. I have tried contacting their Consulate via phone and email, but have yet to speak to a live person. Thanks for putting my mind at ease!

Crossing my fingers... :)

Finally got a hold of the consulate and just as I feared, Packet 3 was sent last month but was never received by my fiancee. Good thing, they are nice enough to resend it. Hopefully, this one won't get lost in the mail!

Lesson learned: always keep checking where everything is at every step of the way!
