I know they require 2 government issued valid id's, will the NBI clearance and Passport work? I dont have any other valid ID's aside from that

Yes those were okay. I was in Cebu City CFO couple of weeks ago and I lined up 1AM just to make sure I will be able to get a slot. After 3 tries I got to finally join the seminar. They only cater 12 slots a day for US and Canada.

Make sure to bring

- a picture of you together

- divorce decree or divorce certificate

- photocopy of your husband/fiance passport

I was asked the following.

- How did you meet?

- How do you communicate? How often?

- How many time did your husband came over to visit. What are those dates?

- Why do you love him?

is the 2012 tax return still valid as proof of being single? :)

For CFO, just bring the most recent Form-1040 (or ITR) you have,i.e. 2012. Not sure if they are aware that the due date of filing taxes in US is on April 15th. But in case they ask, let them know.

When are you taking your CFO seminar anyway? No chance for your fiance to send a soft copy of the 2013 1040 via email?

Yes, just make sure to black out your SSN, don't need that showing for CFO.

They want to see my tax returns? I can send Candy extrta copies no problem on that. ANd yes good sdvice to blot out the SSN.

I filed 2013 early specifically for the visa. No law that says you have to wait to April 15th. You have the docs you need, go ahead and file.

Is Cebu worse than Manila? 1 AM? I heard 3 AM is OK for Manila. One lady who got there at 2 AM reported that she was #2 on the line.

I filed 2013 early specifically for the visa. No law that says you have to wait to April 15th. You have the docs you need, go ahead and file.

What CFO wants is proof of singleness, if you have never been married that can be tricky so recently they came up with the idea of asking for your tax return, this will show if you filed single or not. If you have a divorce degree or death certificate for a past wife there is no need for a copy of the tax return.

I went there 1AM and I was already #7. I just went early to make sure I can join the seminar that day and I don't have to go back again.

Thanks both of you for the advice. Now I get it with the tax return. I was never married, and as we know the US does not document that fact for you in any way, so I suppose the tax return is the key.

What time will I tell her to get there? I suppose 3 AM is a good first shot.

One more question, Hank: My current passport expires in 2 weeks. I was in no hurry to renew it figuring I am not leaving the country as long as Candy can't leave the country, so I figured I have no need for it until she gets her green card, 2015 at the earliest.

Now I learned that she needs a copy of my passport for the CFO. Will they acccept the one that will be expired by the time she gets to the CFO, or should I be in a hurry to renew it now?
