Hello Everyone

My fiancee lost her passport and k1-Visa. The passport is a easy replacement but I would like to know if it is possible to receive a replacement or copy from the embassy. Would I have to reapply for a whole new from the very start here in the states or can she just get setuo another interview. Also she lost the entire packet that I sent to her which included her medical records. If she can get a copy would someone know the fee? She resides in the Philippines.

I hope somone can help.

Thank you.

You definitely need to contact the embassy asap to let them know that happened if you haven't already done so. They will advise you of replacement process and potential cost.

Im pretty sure you will not have to go through the entire process although I must say it's a pretty bad luck to lose both passport and the envelop.

It is not where I breathe but where I love that I live.

You stated above "Also she lost the entire packet that I sent to her which included her medical records". Any packet you sent her is not needed. If you meant she lost the packet that was sent from the embassy with her passport, then that's a big deal!! You, She actually, need to contact the embassy immediately. She can get a new passport and get the visa re-issued (attached to her pp), but there will be a new visa fee and it's going to take some time.

Good Luck!

The packet that I was refering too was the packet with all the original information for her interview. That would be needed if she had to re-start the whole process again. I am primarily worried about the visa because that took the longest time. If she can get it re-issued then I am happy. The passport would only take a week or two to get. All of this is good news and I'm getting less worried. Thank you everyone. Everything is very difficult with the 12 hour time difference. I am unable to contact anyone in Manila due too it.

Could anyone tell me how long would it take for the re-issue of the visa?

Too add another piece to the story this all happened the day she was suppose to fly out to me. The taxi driver that was suppose to drive her to the airport took all her bags, thats why she had the packet, passport, and visa with her. So I need to reschedule the flight. With more information I can try to get everything done as soon as possible.

Thank you everyone

Email the Embassy.

That's a good thing, that she still has the packet the embassy sent with her visa/passport. Have her start getting a new passport, pay the cost to get it expidited, and in the meantime contact the embassy for instructions. They will (at least for the two others I know of where this happened) reissue the visa, with the original exp. date. But I think you will have to pay the fee again. Good Luck!

The horror! Sorry to hear this. It might take a while for the embassy to process her visa, plus the lead time for processing of a new passport. It's best to report it to the US embassy asap.

Although mugging can be a common incident in Philippines, especially in certain areas of Manila, it's not common that a taxi driver would do it. She didn't remember the plate number of the taxi, so she could report this to the police? Nobody from her family brought her to the airport? I don't know your fiancee but I think there's more to the story.

Just thinking out loud.

The visa can be replaced, it is very possible the embassy will charge another $240 visa fee but there won't be another interview. The DO NOT OPEN envelope was lost also? That is not good, is it possible some stole it?

The embassy should be contacted - of course. (phone and email info in my link)

Do you want to elaborate on the bad ending? Do you mean you're having to redo some things or is there more to the "I lost my Passport and Visa" story? Even if something terrible has happened, sharing your story might help someone else.

Wishing you the best !

Edited: you're from your :)

Whatever the bad ending is, you seem to be at peace with it. I hope you claim your happy ending one day too. :)

Btw, just to let you know (in case you don't know yet), if the fiancee has the visa already at hand, she can legally go to US, even without informing the petitioner.
