My wife is immigrating from China. We have completed all the requirements and the NVC has received our DS-260 and the supporting civil documents. Can anyone give me a ballpark number as to when the embassy in Guangzhou will email us to set up her exam and interview on the CGI Stanley website? Then one more question, when you do get the OK to pick a date for the interview, how long do you have to wait for a date the actual interview can take place to become available? thanks for any help

1. can vary usually 2-3 weeks.

2. That depends on the workload of the Consulate. GUZ is very busy, your best bet is have her check several times a day to see if a spot opens up. But I would estimate at least a month to get the interview.

Do not buy any airline tickets until she has her passport in hand with the visa.

It's actually my ticket. I'm going to China and go with her for the interview. I know I can't go inside with her but I want to be there when she goes to Guangzhou. After she gets her visa then we will buy her ticket and hopefully she will get her passport back within 3-4 days after she passes her interview. Thank you for your answer.

Did you use Electronic Processing?..we Did and we are at the N.V.C.I Think the N.V.C. will set the Interview and should get a Interview Date a day or two after Case Complete...

Really, that's cool yes I used electronic processing. I thought you had to go through CGI Stanley to set the interview.

Does anyone know if my wife can choose where she gets her Physical exam. Beijing is closer to Qingdao then Guangzhou and was listed as a place to receive an exam.

I suggest:

1. wait for the case complete notice from NVC. Usually for EP/Guangzhou casefiles, NVC sets the appointment within 30 days of the case complete notice, for a date 20 to 45 days out. No CGI/Stanley scheduling for her.

2. Don't muck about with a medical exam/immunizations anywhere else but Guangzhou. The medical place is 120 metres from the Consulate.

3. PLAN on being in Guangzhou 2 business days earlier than the interview date, to handle the medical exam/immunizations.

4. Since you did EP - you must hand over ALL of the stuff submitted to yer wife, she HAND CARRIES IT IN on interview day and gives it over to a Consular Staffer, a PRC worker.

5. Expect the marriage certificate white book to be ripped apart, and returned to her. I not know why they rip it, but there ya go. IMO, it breaks the chain of evidence as a marriage certificate, when it's shown later, elsewhere, but hey !

6. Do register an account with CGI/Stanley at ustraveldocs.com/cn and get a document delivery coversheet generated prior to interview, print it out and hand carry it into the interview.

7. Prior divorces on you? your wife must have the certified copy / copies, gotten from the county records office or the courthouse, in her hand, on interview day.

That's it, from me, for the nonce. Perhaps someone else will talk about bonafide marriage evidence and other things to bring in on interview day.

Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Are you saying she needs a certifited copy of my divorce record even though I sent that info in a long time ago. We were married in the US, so the marriage certificate is from where I live in Las Vegas not a white book like her documents are in. Also when does she set up her account with CGI Stanley for the document delivery. After the case is listed as complete or anytime? Thanks for the help.

1. yes. stuff sent into USCIS was scanned, creating an A-File. that scan was sent to NVC and again to GUZ IV. GUZ IV requires the original paper. original here, for a divorce decree, is 'certified copy' , certified by the issuing authority.

2. bring it in for interview day, GUZ IV wants to see it.

3. any time prior to interview day. she needs the printed document delivery coversheet that you or her will generate inside that portal.

4. see #3. and yer welcome !

Hi Darnell,

My case has to be processed as paper casefile (EB) and I am expecting this 25th, I may get a case complete notice from NVC.

For paper casefile, do you know it is NVC who schedules the interview date (just like in many other countries, that NVC sets up the interview date and then ship the paper casefile to the embassy), or NVC will have ship my case to GUZ first, and I have to wait for the P4 from GUZ and then I can schedule my interview date on Stanley website?

Thank you.

Can I set up my wife's account for her at ustraveldocs.com/cn or does she have to do it. I am having trouble explaining to her about the part that requires her to type in scrambled letters to insure that she's not an autobot. thanks

I see. If my case can be completed this month, I shall get a late May to early June interview date.

(note. i tracked recent paper casefile to GUZ. It typically takes 1-3 weeks to be received by GUZ IV. Hope this applies to my case.)

1 to 3 weeks? no no. you were studying K-1s and they have different backroom procedures.

ain't no way a paper casefile, EB, IR, CR, F2A made it through the gauntlet in 1 to 3 weeks.

if you won't use the advanced search tool, say so, now.
