Hi VJ family,i have a question , i appreciate your help.

Have you applied for health insurance ?

Have you applied online?over the phone ? or in person, in some local organisation ?

I and my husband we liked 1 plan among the plans they have online, we didn't applied online, we needed some assistance in some local organisation, before we apply online , we went to the available organisation , the agent created an account for us, he needed to answer some required questions concerning my status , he needed the green card number which i still have not received yet, he entered just incorrect numbers! , incorrect expiration date for my residence !ect,,,, he said when i receive the green card i can mail it to covered California, fax it ,...ans he said i can edit the information anytime i want , yesterday when i log in the account i couldn't edit any of these incorrect information, i got a message telling im eligible for this insurance and that i have 90 days to send the proof of my status ,

have you went through the same thing ?, have you faxed any green card to covered California ?

we were told by the agent that we can't apply now over the insurance website we already picked, even before we talked to any agent, but we need to continue the application in covered California account and pick one of the limited plans they shows us,

i need some clarification about this subject

Big Thanks

You do need a GC to qualify for Obamacare. So why he put anything in I have no idea.

If this is on the Exchange then you should be able to gain access to your account and update your details.

That way as well, your choice.

I think most people they just pick a plan online ,and they apply, without going through the same situation like mine, yesterday we received a message on the account asking to verify my status , after the call we made , they edited the status , and today they asked for the income information , bank statement, or pay check stubs or SSI for me and for my husband , we have not applied to any plan yet, since we receive important news from time to time, we have a choice to apply for one of the plans they have in the system , or to withdraw the application and apply directly to the affordable health insurance in another website ,

You don't need a green card per se. You need to have proof of legal status -- the EAD will suffice, or an unexpired I-94. In fact, we applied to our state exchange (Covered California) before my husband even had his EAD, and his only documentation was his NOA1 for the AOS process, and his I-94 that expired one week after we applied for insurance. The two (I-94 and NOA1) were sufficient to get us approved for the application, although a month later they did ask us for proof of his legal status since his I-94 had since expired. By that time we had his EAD in hand, and they entered that information and everything was approved. He now has his GC but we haven't even updated the exchange with that info -- it's working fine with only his EAD.

Now, we did have OTHER problems with the state exchange when it came to actually getting the info to Kaiser for our enrollment, but that had nothing to do with my husband's immigration status, and would have happened even to me (solo) as a US citizen. It was a complete headache to get Kaiser to actually activate our plan, and involved weeks of calling their helpline every day -- but Covered California worked quite well and it was only Kaiser who was balking, saying our enrollment DATES were wrong and that our plan had been cancelled before it was even started. That was a complete mess, but it was never related to immigration.
