Hi guys,

We received our NOA2 on December 13th, 2013 and then a letter from the NVC on January 9th saying our petition had been forwarded to the Sydney Consulate and I should wait to hear from them and fill out the DS-160 in the mean time...

It's now been 2 months and we haven't heard a peep from the Consulate, is this normal?? Is it meant to be emailed or sent via post? Neither my fiance (US petitioner) or myself (beneficiary) have received any emails and I'm starting to freak! I emailed the Sydney consulate immigration centre yesterday but still haven't heard anything :(

I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if you have any tips that could help?

Thanks,

Steph

We are just a little bit behind you. We are finishing out things with NVC and they should be sending the case over to the local embassy (Japan in our case) soon. My wife calls the (Tokyo) embassy public assistance office about once a week to see if they have anything new on our case. We gave up waiting for the various offices to contact us...and we contact them asking them whats up with out case. We usually just get a run around or unclear answers but it seems to be better than waiting. Sometimes we've been told to please wait some more....then in a day some email will come from them. I'm not sure if the public relations people really know what the actual case workers are doing in the other rooms. It sometimes seems that they don't. I would recommend you contact the Sydney people regularly by email, phone, and old fashioned paper mail if you must. Keep knocking (nicely) and every now and again you will get answers and can better plan and predict your next steps. Good Luck!

It does seem strangely long. I had my packet 3 from them less than 2 weeks after NVC sent it out to Australia.

Send an email to sydneyiv@state.gov and maybe contact NVC as well -- It can take a few business days to get a response from Sydney consulate, in body of email put you NVC case# , receipt # etc

It may also help to know what happened in our case..
Everything that had to do with the USCIS was emailed to me (Australian beneficiary) and not to my US fiance. Anything to do with the Sydney Consulate was emailed to my USCIS fiance. He then forwarded it to me. This included packet 3 and 4.

It may be wise to get your fiance to check his/her email account too to see if it was sent to the wrong email. Hope good news comes your way soon.

Neither my fiance or I received packet 3. Finally after about 6 wks from getting the NOA2 i emailed the Sydney consulate only to hear that they had emailed packet 3 to me, US the petitioner, with an interview date for my AU fiance that had come and gone... I never received an email version of packet 3!!!! He is rescheduled and they told us to bring a copy of the emails documenting that he or i never received packet 3 or interview date.

He has his interview in 4 days, but it looks as though he will not have his police clearance done by then. What a roller coaster nightmare this has been.

Not sure what process is if he doesn't have his clearance in hand.

Ugh! Sorry that you had that happen. From what I understand, he can still attend the interview and then once the police certificate comes in, have that sent to Sydney and they will process the additional information and (hopefully :)) the visa.

Good Luck!
