Hello Folks,

I 'm here to ask you guys and gals for some assistance.

I am an American studying abroad in China. I met my girlfriend three years ago and I proposed to her on January 21st of 2014. So now I am on a journey to help her get a fiancee visa so I can bring her back to California and of course marry her.

I have read through quite a few threads and am confident that I have most everything in its proper order. I just wanted to make sure I crossed every T, so to speak. So I have a few questions that I was hoping you guys could help me with.

1.) I am currently studying aboard in China, can I send my K-1 forms to the USCIS from here? Or do I need to send the package from America?

2.) I have heard that there needs to be financial records or something? I couldn't find that on the I-129F or the G325A forms, can someone please help me clear that up? Because I am a med school student and as of right now, have no income.

Thanks for your time! My fiancee and I sincerely appreciate it!

Thanks for your answer Ilovemyman!

I think I should clarify the first question, I am filing from China because I am not stateside right now. So when the form asks for daytime contact and mobile phone, do I give them the one I am using in China? Or do I give them a number of my family member in California? Also, is it preferred if I mail the package from China or America? I don't have my check book in China, so I am going to get my sister to help cut me a check. And then she's going to send it to USCIS. Okay! I guess I still have a few more questions...sorry haha. Thanks for your time guys and gals!

You will need to receive the notices in the mail in a timely manner. So, if your sister's address in the US is a stable one you can use, as in she agrees to watch out for your USCIS mailings, then I would suggest using hers as the mailing address on your petition.

I also suggest you check in the China regional forum to learn more about the process at the consulate for the actual K-1 visa application that comes after the I-129F is approved. That is when you need the I-134 and financial docs. Some consulates are more strict about using a co-sponsor, which is why I say to check with those who know best about going through China.
