hi everyone!

We sent our K1 to Vermont just last week so no NOA's yet but i like to gather info for the next steps and I was wondering approx how long it takes to obtain a police cert from London.. and how long its valid for. Also, I would like to attend the interview with my fiance and we were trying to guesstimate approx when it would be.. vacation scheduling at work is difficult and they promised to try to work with me but do you think that the first week of august is too opimystic?? lol i know i may be dreaming but like everyone else im missing my love and even august seems to far away although im not so sure we can afford me traveling twice this year plus the time off from work. fingers crossed we will get lucky.

hmmm was thinking of asking my fiance to request it soon if its valid for a year we should be safe. and, if i ask him to request it now he may get around to it in a month or so he can be a bit of a slacker at times but i love him!

I know VSC can have its off days, but I think its the quickest on average. It'll be a little easier to gauge once its gone thru NVC which MAY be in about 3 weeks or so if it goes as smoothly as many.

From start to finish, 4 or 5 months maybe? (providing all goes well)

I received mine in 14 days. Like the others have said, its good for one year so if you want to start preparing now, by all means go ahead and do so, I did!!! As for timing your vacation time to conincide with the interview, that could be difficult as you wont know the date of the interview until a few weeks before its scheduled. What I can say is that you are going through Vermont which is the quickest service centre for processing, so in all honesty, even with an RFE, I think you will get your K1 visa way before August! I went through California Service Center and our K1 journey from start to finish took three and a half months, so who knows, you may be back together again by May ... Good Luck!

LONDON TO CALIFORNIA ....

May 5th 05 - K1 petition sent to CSC

December 5th 05 - AOS and EAD sent

December 16th 05 - NOA's received for both AOS and EAD

December 31st 05 - Receive letter for AOS interview

February 6th 06 - AOS Interview - APPROVED

February 16th 06 - Biometrics Appointment

February 22nd 06 - EAD Approved via e mail

February 27th 06 - EAD card in mail!!!

March 6th 06 - Got a job!

May would be amazing! we have both been reading others stories and checking some timelines but we both decided that we would rather think that its going to take longer then get our hopes up for a quick and painless processing well at least thats what we tell each other but i have my fingers and toes crossed that we will be together again by summer but dont tell him i said so he will just say that im jinxing it

Our process took just over 6 months from the day we sent the initial paperwork 'til the day the visa was in my fiance's hand. We went through Nebraska, so I'd think you'll definitely have the visa before August, going through Vermont! Danny's police certificate took the full 40 days to arrive. I'd say it's better to get it early, since it's good for a year. Good luck on your journey! :D

Our K1 process took 8 months from start to Visa....and my UK police certificate took 38 days....I applied for mine early because of the 1 year time limit because I really didn't want that to hold things up.

thanks everyone for the replies! Just one more thing... I know my fiance needs to request the police cert from his local police department does anyone know what form he needs to fill out for the request?

Not sure what the form is, but I just went into my local police station and told them what I wanted and they knew what form it was.

Also, he will need his passport as ID...I also had to take a utility bill showing my address in the UK, but I am not sure whether this is standard...might be worth checking out though.

Oh yeah and the fee is 10 pounds.

if he takes i.d. to his local station, ie passport/driving licence, they'll probably do his application there for him.

This thread caught my eye. My fiance & I have sent in our petition, got a NOA1 and then a RFE that we met. We're just gathering all the evidence to send back to them by March 4th (the deadline they gave us). I believe there will be a request for a police certificate later on. Would it be for me (the BC) or for my fiance? If I sent away for it now would the embassy accept it if they see it was asked for months before the embassy requested it?

Love hurts

When you live an ocean away

When you change your sleep schedule to catch a few more moments

When you really need to be held and you have to imagine whilst your partner describes it

When you constantly refresh the USCIS website to see if you're getting any closer

Love Loves

When it repays you with the love of your life

When God finally answered your biggest prayer

When you can live life again in the real world but still have that eternal connection

When you wake up for to the beginning of the rest of your life with the person you fought so hard for

When you love somebody that much

You'll do anything

Apply for your (beneficiary) police certificate now.

Its valid for a year and MAY take 40 days to arrive. I got mine in Nov, the Embassy will be fine, dont worry about that.

Heres the link for the Met Police Subject Access. I used West Mids so was able to send copies of docs.
