Even tho we have not met in nigeria, my mum had travelled to nigeria to meet with his family and there are photographs taken, her visit which turned really horrible she almost lost her life due to armed robbery incident and considering nigeria isn't relatively a safe place to go at the moment with all the news of kidnapping and bombing couple with my mum's experience . so what i am thinking is me and him meeting each other in another country like dubai which is closer to him and reasonable affordable for him.

however if i definitely have to visit nigeria , its the risk i have to take then.

Regarding proof, in my opinion we do have a lot of photographs and , birthday cards, phone calls history, proofs of communication with her mum, sisters and all.

Thanks for your advice on the police report he shall apply to get that sorted.

Well, like I said, based on reading here and on other websites, the immigrations staff in Lagos is just about the toughest one to deal with. Your mom visiting Nigeria probably doesn't mean anything to them, however bad that trip turned out.

It is about you and your fiance, and that relationship has to be proven (to THEM, not us! ;-)

I think they would accept having met (recently) in another country, because of security concerns. Then again, it is up to them. Wherever you go visit him, make sure you keep your boarding passes, receipts, tickets for things you went to see together, etc etc, and MANY pictures!

I totally agree with you its all about proving our relationship is genuine to be honest.

I forgot to include this in my last post. i have been living over the poverty line in the past years and have records of taxes filed. even tho i have only just started working as self employed, i am lucky enough to have made more than the poverty line in the past months and hopefully by the end of the year i would have made way more than required.

In your opinion, do you think this would help?

my lawyer said it is fine but i would like to have more opinion on this to build my confidence.

Yeah, just include your last-year's ITR, add paystubs or bank info for the most recent months showing you're doing well while self-employed, and you should be OK.

Hi Guys,

I have to say a very big thank you you all for your contributions in this forum- even tho i haven't been active, i do read daily updates from you guys.

Just to let you guys know, our petition was submitted in Sept 19 and we got approved on 8th of April. i know this isn't the end of the journey...

How long does it normally take to have everything transferred to the embassy where my fiancé will be applying for his visa? your contribution will be highly appreciated.
