many thanks guys for your reply and contribution on this.

@dwheels76, we do not have any red flag at all. thanks for the update.

In regards to obtaining police certificate outside of the UK, can you educate me more on how to go about this please? if you do not mind.

@ nigeriaourburst, many thanks for your contribution, highly appreciated!!.. he entered the uk legally on his real identity and has a clean record till he left the UK.

To get a UK police clearance certificate, go to this website http://www.acro.police.uk/police_certificates.aspx, download the form, fill it out, attach the appropriate fee along with the application form, and mail it to UK. The UK police will mail the certificate to his home address in Nigeria.

I'll ask a friend. who got he's police clearance, while he was in Nigeria, hw he went abt it. But trust me, it cost him some money. Secondly, its a must that you guys get it, so you can be approved.

If you scroll up a few posts, you will see I already gave the OP the UK police website they need to go to in order to apply for the clearance. Standard fee for getting a UK police clearance certificate is £45. The price is a small cost compared to how much the entire process costs.

The fee might be that price, yeah. i over heard my friend talking about the UK police, getting in touch with he's Landlord in the UK, to comfirm he's last address there and to know if he was of good behaviour, while he resided there. He had he's landlord, help him out with getting the Clearance cert, and mailing it to Nigeria, for him. It wasnt a cheap process, i recall. Maybe cos he didnt go through the site, you recommended. Anyways, much thanks, for your input.

My husband had lived in UK for 6 years so when he had to get his police clearance certificate, he simply did it through the website and it was very easy. All he did was fill out the form accordingly, attach the fee and the certificate was mailed directly to his house in his home country.

Hi guys

I will appreciate your sincere contribution tho my question once again as i am in the process of filing for my fiancé now. My job situation is a bit tricky and i need your advice on what to do here please.

Basically i have been working full time for the past years and only just quit my permanent job in march. since then i have been contracting till date, calculating my income in the past few months. i have made over the poverty line.

my question is.. does it really matters if i have a permanent job or contracting? in my understanding it is the income that matter. i would appreciate your contribution to this please.

Many thanks in advance!

Being self employed isn't the killer but proving your income will be over the poverty line will be trickier especially since you haven't been a contractor as long. Are you doing contract work 40 hours every week ?

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

@nigeriaorburst, thanks for your input.

The thing is in the past month i have earned twice the poverty line and i can prove that with my pay stub from the various agencies i work for. i am definitely earning over the poverty line and can prove it. my only concern is as i am contracting now, would they assume i am not guaranteed job all round the year even tho potentially i have and will be making over 50k a year. my concern only concern is, according to the law do you have to in a full time employment to be able to file for my partner?

and yeah i work over 40 hours every week and most times only work 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off every month.

Hello guys, i need your input once more please!

So we have decided to hire a lawyer to do the whole filing processing for us, one of the major reason is my busy schedule and i travel a lot due work schedule.we thought it would be advisable to hire a lawyer to take of the whole application for us.

Now we are about to submit the application for k1 visa for my fiancé.

As some of you mite have read my previous post on this thread regarding my fiancé travel history, him living in the uk illegally for some years , however he's been living in nigeria for like a year now. my question are below.

1) will he still be required to get a police record certificate in the uk?

2) i believe since he's been residing in nigeria now for about a year plus, won't a nigerian police certificate be enough for him to be approved?

3) The lawyer advised we show proofs of us meeting in the uk, i.e photos, communications as i have not visited nigeria however i will be visiting him later this year.

4) do you think us telling the truth can go against us? .. or can the fact that he lived illegally in the uk count against him? even tho he has no criminal record whatsoever.

May God bless you all... i really need your help once more!

I havent read your entire story, but I do see two things here.

1. You are (now) self-employed doing contract work. That is good, but you will need to show a longer 'history' of income than just the last few months. In most cases, they want to see an IRS filing or transcript for the previous year, as that is what you "apparently" have made that year. You could add statements from your bank to that which shows the new income as well. But, since that is not a guaranteed income (yet), they may not accept that for now.

2. You mention that you have not met in Nigeria (yet). It seems (from your posting) that you DID meet in the UK, so that would be OK, as long as you can prove that, as your lawyer said. If you have not met in Nigeria yet, you MAY get into some serious problems when your fiance has to prove a real ("Bona Fide") relationship with you to the USEM in Lagos. They are VERY tough, and you WILL need lots of proof establishing that you indeed are in a real relationship.

3. Police reports: you need reports for every country you have 'resided' (lived, not visited) in since the age of 16. So, if he *lived* in the UK, that includes a report from there. If he just visited a report may not be needed, but your lawyer will have a better answer to that one...

Good luck on your journey! Personally, I think you should visit him first in Nigera, and make sure you have lots of 'proof' of that visit. After that, I'd file the petition...
