I hope I am posting this in the correct place, if not I apologize.

This might be a very stupid question to ask, but if rather get an answer from someone else rated than assume the answer I believe is correct. I've tried searching the answer and have come up empty handed.

I am petitioning for my fiance on a K-1 visa, and am looking ahead at future requirements.

If I am to have a co sponsor on the I-864 for AOS, would they have to file for my fiance as a dependent on their taxes or not? I would assume probably since tey are sponsoring him but I would like a correct answer to this.

Once again, I'm sorry if this is a stupid question that I should know the answer to. Any help is appreciated.

Also, I mean future taxes, not this years since the filing of the 864 wouldn't be until later in the year.

No, signing an affidavit of support for someone does not in any way make you obligated to financially support them or claim them as a dependent on your taxes. Someone must meet the eligibility criteria in order to be claimed as a dependent on their taxes. http://www.irs.gov/publications/p17/ch03.html
