Customs asking for deposit in their SMART BDO (split thread)

Hi , My mom was supposed to received a package from US it has a wedding ring and a 42 LED tv. The customs are asking for 10,000 php to be deposited in their SMART BDO account. I wonder why they wanted it to be an electronic payment. I asked them to have the package forwarded here in cebu but they told us that if we don't pay them thru the account they provided we will no longer see the parcel.

This is my first time to encounter such. Can you tell me how can I get the custom fees paid for? I tried doing the calculator that they have in the Bureaus site but it shouldn't cost more than 10,000.. How can I have the package from Manila forwarded to Cebu? and just have the custom fees paid here? I tried asking this to the scammer lady who supposedly works for custom but she said that the "agent" will only wait for the payment until 10PM today. This is really weird.

There's something fishy indeed and who are they to impose deadlines of payment? Customs don't have the right to directly deal with the consignee, as far as I know, unless it's addressed to a government agency. And even if it's a case of shipment abandonment, which should still take 30 days upon arrival, but a 10pm payment?

Care to share the courier/ shipping service used from US? Did the shipper request for door-to-door delivery?

I suggest sharing your story with the Cebu bureau of the Philippine Daily Inquirer. Something smells fishy.

dont pay,

better check with the courier you use sending in your package. didint you use door to door delivery?

when my sister sent a figurine from japan, philpost issued us a notice to go to pasay philpost main office to pay the necesseary fees...they opened te package infront of us and saw that it was just a regular a not too expensive figurine so we didint pay any.
