CRBA Manila...whats next??

So I applied for my son's CRBA and passport 2 weeks ago and we were confirmed. so I hope to get CRBA and passport soon. My question is about actual departure. Do I just walk into the airport with his US passport and he is good to go? I question this because there will be no time of entry stamp from the Philippines on his passport (I'm guessing). Also upon arrival into the US, no length of stay in the Philippines.

Anyone here recently completed the journey???

Many countries require an exit permit from the local immigration department to take a baby out on a foreign passport with no stamps in it. I ran into this same issue with my son in Vietnam and found out it was easier to get a Vietnam passport for the baby. Plus is has benefits if you'll visit PI with your family. You would show the PI passport to leave PI and the US passport to enter the US. Only give the relevant passport to the relevant authorities. Handing a PI and US passports to CPB will just complicate your entry for no reason.

Arrival into the US for the baby is no issue; if your even asked about the baby just have the CRBA handy.

I found a PI specific thread on this.

Getting a PI passport for your son is a great idea, in this way, you don't have to get an exit permit which usually charge fines but because of the Philippines Dual citizenship act, you won't have to pay anything for your child.

Good luck!

Thanks...I already have a PI passport for him. So....what passport do I had to them in Manila when I'm leaving...the PI one or the US? If it's the PI one doesn't is need a US visa or is that only for entry to US and not exit PI.

And yes I know as a US citizen he cannot get a visa for his PI passport...I went through that ordeal already when I tried to attach him to a K1 fiancée visa...he was denied and is the reason I am not going through CRBA

Agreed. Hand Philippines both; they have some strange specific rules on this. When entering the US just give them the US book unless asked.

I got sent to a room at Newark years ago for 4 hours because I mixed my 2 US passports in with 6 merchant seamans document books which look exactly like national passport books. When I took the stack out of my bag still standing in line a CPB agent saw I had what looked like 8 different passports and pulled me out of line. After 4 hours in the penalty box they finally got to me and cleared me in 2 minutes. I learned to only show them what is required for them too see. Nothing more.
