hey guys can somebody explain what is FBI name check is all about?

well as a general answer they will pass on your names to the FBI to make sure neither of you pop up on any no no lists. If you have a very common name (think John Smith) this can add some time to your wait....

And so he did what countless punk-rock songs had told him to do so many times before: he lived his life

10/07/2006 WEDDING DAY!

11/14/2006 AOS packet made it to 'the box' after being overnighted.

12/02/2006 Paul had biometrics

12/14/2006 AOS Forwarded to CSC AND AP Application approved.

01/17/2007 First touch of 2007 at CSC

01/20/2007 Touched AGAIN (also the 18th) come on...

February: Oops, RFE for a REGISTERED marriage certificate. Oops! Overnighted it.

02/28/2007 Paul gets email letting us know his GREENCARD is on it's way! It's done...for now!

03/09/2007 Paul's greencard arrives. And breathe...

We began with mailing the I-129 in on February 27, 2006 so the whole process took us approx. one year.

Good luck out there!

Hmm, interesting to read, thanks for the link. The lady who took my biometrics said that it is sent immediately (I assumed electronically) to the FBI and I was wondering how long the fingerprint check would take. 24-48hrs is a lot shorter than I would have guessed.

rebeccajo, i was just wondering, why dont you SUE?

i've heard of a lot of people on our (russian) immigration forums, having similar problems with name check, but they were ALL quickly (in a matter of weeks) resolved once they filed a lawsuit against them. seems like thats what most people do in this situation these days.

you can find examples on how to do this on the web.

i've also heard from the very same sources (russian forums) that contacting the senators does absolutely ZERO help.

i see. yeah, it hasnt been THAT long yet in your case. im just saying this would probably be more productive than requesting senator's assistance.

me and my wife both have pretty unusual names, so hopefully we'll be alright :[

LOL....well in my opinion it's been long enough.....but most of these suits aren't filed till after two years have passed.

However, we have recent information that indicates that wait may not be necessary if you've exhausted all your other remedies. At this point I don't think we have exhausted them all, including the rudimentary empty response of a Senator. We have another Senator and a Congressman we may need to run through, plus the FOIPA request and some other avenues we haven't explored yet.

Oh...I hope you and your wife don't run into this problem either. It sucks.
