Hi, we just got our email NOA2 and.I am guessing we should be receiving Packet 3 in a month or so. However, I'm in the states visiting until mid Mar. Do they mail anything to my Canadian address? Or will they correspond through email? And do I need to mail the police certificate as well or will I be able to bring it to my interview? Also how strict are they on current income? Will assets(cash) be enough or we will for sure need a joint sponsor? My husband is currently self-employed.

Thank you in advance for answering!!!

Packet 3 was mailed directly to my fiance's Canadian address. Ours went through CSC as well, and it was almost 2 months before it was even sent to the Montreal consulate. You can always call DOS while you're on vacation to see if you have been sent Packet 3 yet. Everything is through email now, and the entire packet is on their website, so you don't need the physical copy to proceed.

If your husband's last tax return was over the required amount you will be okay. That's how they judge self-employed people.

OP is not a K1 and will not get a packet 3.

Thank you for answering. If his 2013 tax return might not have enough, will asset(cashable) be enough? Is Montreal strict on that? Or we have to get a joint sponsor for sure?

you can use assets for sure, depending on what they are. They should be US based assets. The NVC should give you a good idea of if you need a joint sponsor or not. Montreal is certainly more strict on domicile than on most other issues.
