Money Order and Cover Letter

Hi guys..

I am about our cover letter but I do not know how to explain that we will use Money Order or Money Transfer as payment. I have researched samples of Cover letter here but most of them are bank checks. How will I put or explain it in the letter? Like for example we will use Western Union. Should I put there the reference number of the money transfer? And what recipient name and address are we going to use. My husband lives in Seattle. Thank You.

Hi,

We filed in December and on the cover letter I wrote "I-130 filing fee of $420.00 in the form of USPS money order." Everything went fine and we received our NOA1 shortly after.

Thank You so much for the replies. How about the reference number for example for Western Union. Should we write it as well in the cover letter?

I am not sure how it works with Western Union - I know that you need to give this number to the recipient.. and the recipient need to know from who and where it was sent..

Hm , your hubby lives in Seattle right ? maybe it would be easier to do it by normal money order? mine did it in Walmart..

and then you make a copy of it and keep it with you and the original Money Order send to them.

I suggest you buy the money order at the post office, no reference number needed i just filled it out and included it with my application. However, if you already purchased the money order at western union then just write down all the info you think is necessary for them to cash it and include a copy of the receipt containing the reference number just to be safe. Don't worry you'll be fine, cashing that fee is the only thing USCIS does fast!
