Probably the first step is SS#. http://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/ss5.htm

I've heard differing opinions if it's best to wait until after the wedding. If she's changing her name, then some suggest it's easier to wait. But, it's not necessary to wait.

After that, you need to file for AOS, EAD and/AP (if you want travel privileges while you wait) There's an excellent guide on the site that Merrytooth has linked for you.

Well, Anne made it here and is dealing with the freezing cold temps now. We're getting married in a few weeks. She's eager to start working. So after getting married what are our next steps in this journey?

Seems like a good way to start your and your fiancee's new year! dancin5hr.gif

For the next steps, I find this K1 visa flowchart helpful: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow

You are now done at Item #15. If Anne is eager to get started working, it is indeed advisable to get the SSN before getting married.

And do read Merrytooth's link on doing AOS, EAD and AP after getting married.

Good luck and to your fiancee, Welcome to America! smile.png
