I am currently in Brazil visiting my spouse. I return to the US tomorrow. We've been proactive in getting everything translated and ready to go when we get to the NVC: Birth Cert, Police reports (we'll probably have to pull new ones because they're good for 3 months in case we don't make it to the NVC soon), military / army exemption, etc.

Now, my questions are:

  1. Who sends these to the NVC? Do I mail them (from the US) or does the beneficiary mail them (from Brazil)? We're afraid that mailing them from Brazil will result in these documents getting lost. Would it be OK if I mailed everything from the US?
  2. I understand we have to send originals of everything, correct? So along with the translated copies, all original documents get sent to the NVC too?
  3. Will we get the originals back at the consulate interview?
  4. If all originals get sent to the NVC, what should my husband bring to the consular interview that they wouldn't already have?

Thank you.

It doesnt matter where documents are sent from just as long as they reach to NVC.

Yes send originals or certified copies along with photocopies to NVC.

Yes originald are returned at interview make sure you get them back.

Its your choice to bring back up of all civil documents to interview just in case anything got misplaced during NVC to Consulate stage.
