Can anyone give me a good idea of what to expect or be prepared for when going to the Medical Exam in Manila? Is it really possible that it could take two days? If so, we'll need to plan on traveling and spending the night. I plan on calling them and asking too, but thought I'd ask here as well. Also, if anyone can go through everything that they ended up doing (ie how many immunizations they actually got, how long it took, or anything else that went on), we would really appreciate it.

Thanks so much!

It took me 2 days to complete my medical exam. Came there at 8:30 then I got done with the urine test, blood test, immunization interview, visual acuity and vital signs at 9:45 am. waiting for the physical exam took forever. I had to come back at 1:30 pm then it was finally my turn at 3:30. got done with it in 10 or 15 minutes. came back the next day for my shots (they gave me 3) and results. 2nd day took 3 or 4 hours from start to finish. I stayed at Hotel Soriente. It was only a few meters away from SLEC.

even if you'll be there at 3am, there is no guarantee that you'll get everything done in one day. it depends how straightforward or complicated your case is.

Make sure you take note of this:

To avoid delays, applicants who have their menstrual period may choose to reschedule their appointment for one week after the last day of their period.

You will get asked like a hundred times about the 1st and last day of your period. One last thing, don't forget to pre-register here http://www.slec.ph/us/registration/. That will save you loads of time. Good luck! :)

Hi all, I've been reading this forum for a while and decided to join since we are now moving along in our process. We just did medical on Jan 6th. Probably the worse day possible since the previous 2 weeks were holidays and anyone processing kids could not go during those 2 weeks due to TB tests for children. We have 2 of our own so we knew we were in for the long haul. Register on line as recommended as they hand out 2 different numbers for waiting. One for those who registered on line and ones that did not. The online ones go first for about the first 40 before they started calling the other group. We showed up at 5:10AM and were #84 online registrants...yes 84 at 5:10!!!. We waited for about 1hr 45 minutes before we got to the registration counter. They we offering 20% discounts for people who dealt with the earthquake or typhoon. Since Alona was from northern part of Cebu we asked about it and was granted. 20% times 3 was a big deal for us. You cannot bring food inside but can come and go outside as you please. Each station has it's own waiting line so when you finish one you can leave to get some food if you need to. We got through everything but the physical before lunch. We got vitals, weight, height and vision done and were told to break for lunch and come back for 1:30. We came back at 1:40 and the room on the 5th floor was packed again. Fortunately we were called at 3:00 and were done in 20 minutes with Mom and the 2 kids. We had Tuesday off since the kids need to go back wed to have the TB test read so Mom finishes day 2 with the kids. Hoping for the best.

Just have everything organized and ready as listed and things go fine. Just be patient, be ready to wait and expect to be there the whole day. When you get out around 3:30 you'll be in a better mood.

Yes it is possible for the medical to take two days. I was lucky enough to do the medical during extremely busy days. 1st day I was there 12 hours, next day was about 7-9 hours. It was absolutely tiring but I just wanted to get it out of the way.

I hear talk of a sputum test, what is that and if someone fails it as I have seen some mention this?

Testing is for TB. If the sputum test comes back positive you will have to complete 6 months of treatment at St. Luke's, then complete your medical once more.

Hey Hank,

I assume I do not need any med exam for my less than 2 yr old son. He has his vaccination papers and has his USA passport/CRBA. I know he needs a 2 week before flight BI exit clearance.

TB huh....I been living with her for almost 3 yrs so I hope not or I will be going through the treatement too. Just did the online form and hopefully get the 20% off deal too

Nope your USC son does not require a medical to enter his country, same as you ;)

Ya get to BI and get the exit clearance or waiver handled.

You have to be a victim of typhoon Yolanda to get the discount:

Discounted Medical Examination Fees for Victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda, Earthquake Victims
Posted Friday, November 22, 2013

St. Luke’s Medical Center, Inc. joins the government’s efforts in helping the victims of the recent typhoon Yolanda that hit the Visayas region particularly Eastern Samar and Leyte and the earthquake that jolted Bohol and Cebu earlier.

St. Luke’s Medical Center Extension Clinic (Manila & Global City) will be offering 20% discount on medical fees of U.S., Australia, Canada and New Zealand immigrant visa applicants as our humble way of showing support to our countrymen coming from these directly affected areas.
