Please help . While filling the form N-400, for the question Part 7. Que "C".. List all the triprs of 24 hours or more that you have taken outside of the United States since becoming a lawful permanent resident.

I have been a recident since 2005 but I took a 2-year re-entry permit in 2006 and went to India and I came back in 2008. Now I am in the valid 5-year eligibility (Counting from 2008), but do I have to include that 2- years as out of United States ?

No you start from the date you came back in 2008. So if you traveled since 2008 to now, you include those trips if not just put 0. However be prepared to be asked about your trips before that, the officer might wanna get more info about what happened.

Thank you Silkafi88.

I was concerned because the question indicated all the trips since becoming Permanent Resident. It did not mention as trips from last 5-years. So, you think it will be okay to mention only the trips from last 5-years?

You must answer the question exactly as it was asked. So you do have to list every trip you took outside of the United States since you became a permanent resident, whether that was 3, 5, 10, or 20 years ago.

For the purposes of this application, it is considered a trip if it lasted 24 hours or more.

Thank You.

I will be applying this month. What all do we need to submit with N-400 application?

Are these the items:

1. N-400 application form

2. Two photographs

3. Money order for application and biometric fee

Do we need to send anything else with the application packet?

If you're applying based on the 5-year rule, you need to send what you said AND a photocopy of the front and back of your current green card.

If you're applying based on the 3-year rule, there are a lot more documents you must submit with your application.

Go to http://www.uscis.gov/n-400 and click on the link that says "Document Checklist, Current Fees, Naturalization Eligibility Worksheet (608 KB PDF)" -- it will tell you everything you need to know.
