I thought the ski-mask is actually called a burqa?
Are you one of the dead Jews, Mr.Smartpants?

1) I'm alive..thus I can type.

2) I'm a female (notice the hijaab)

3) I'm muslim ( again...notice the hijaab)

Don't quit yer dayjob.

Do I look like I have a ski-mask on?

Contrary to the tone of this thread; I think it is a very important topic and might be quite useful

and informative to those of us who strongly desire to learn about Palestinian/Isreali issue. I read

with mixed emotions....on one hand I am impressed with the knowledge and objective views of

some posters and on the other hand nauseated by the vile, hateful and sarcastic remarks of some. being a multi-national/religious cast, this sort of discussion is not only encouraged but

welcome as a tool to edcducate those of us who are ignorant to the facts. It might be very

interesting to hear some ideas (w/o the hateful stuff) on how the Palestinian/Isreali issue can

be resolved. Anyone care to discuss?

Well I'm always up for a reasonable discussion. (F)

When the land was being given to the Isreali why did the Palestinians not say "NO"? Why wait until later to say "I want my land back"? I know this is a rather stupid question but it's asked

out of ignorance

Which is THE one country that has single handedly caused most of the problems in this world?

I vote................. Great Britain.

You REALLY don't like the UK do you? :P

Lets just say that the Brits are in general a little more aware of the effects of our little period of empire than some of our American cousins. That's partly what makes some of these discussions so frustrating - the unspoken assumption that the US has some sort of God given right to interfere in the affairs of other countries.

Well they certainly did say "NO." All the Arab countries voted "NO" to the U.N. partition.

You have to read some history to get it all straight.

The area of historic Palestine was under Ottoman rule in the early 20th century, and had been administered out of Damascus, Syria. It fell under the British Mandate after their defeat of the Ottoman Empire.

Great Britain sliced up the area into the Arab countries you now see on the map, sometimes following traditional old division lines, sometimes making entirely new ones, often rewarding tribal leaders who had helped them in the war, such as the House of Saud in Saudi Arabia and the Hashemites in Jordan.

But they kept the Palestinian area separate. The Palestinian people didn't even have their own national government (or anything other than at the local level) nor their own representative at the United Nations to speak up for them. The decision to divide their land was made entirely without their advice or their consent. As you can imagine, this led to a serious conflict that continues through today.

Exactly... you've seen first-hand what "empire" does.

Oh you've heard that God never let the sun set on the British Empire ?

That's because he couldn't trust those thieving devils in the dark.

Wife of mahmoud.....this really happened??? How could this be......the world sat back and

allowed this to happen? Did any country protest this unfair action?

Yes, that's because your "little period" is past tense. I know Great Britain wasn't aware of the effects while it was happening. Nice deflection attempt.

Well yes it happened. Palestinians call it al Nakba - the Catastrophe.

Many countries protested, others agreed with the division, and still others abstained from the vote.

You have to remember that this was just after World War II. The world was aghast at the horrors of what had been done to the Jews in Nazi Germany. There was strong support in many countries for creating a Jewish homeland somewhere in the world. And there had been a Zionist movement advocating such a homeland in Palestine since the turn of the 20th century, long before the war.

Here's a good short history of the conflict -- it will give you a good background on what has happened, and probably answer many of your questions:

See, it seems like a real simple solution...you have all the answers, I'm sure, erekose. But it goes like this...as the noted "Super Power," the U.S. is often in a precarious situation. For instance, if the U.S. doesn't get involved in something like another country's civil war, they are accused of not doing enough to "stem the violence"...yet, if the U.S. gets involved, we are "unwanted" and "interfering". This is called a "Catch-22". Either way, we're generally hated because we are viewed to have the resources, even though this may not always be the case.

You can go ahead and make an assumption that we interfere in a lot of things we shouldn't, but you can also refer back to what I said happens if we do nothing. Honestly, erekose, I've read a lot of your views on many things...you seem to know almost everything. Perhaps you should run for an elected office somewhere and attempt to fix all of these horrendous injustices.

I know the U.S. people would love to isolate themselves like Switzerland.

I'm not sure if the "damned if we do, damned if we don't" argument really stands up - Is it really that unreasonable to ask people to apply a historical perspective to these situations?

Aside from the "War on Terror", which (I think) doesn't mean what we're being told it does - look at the foreign policy of previous administrations. Reagan for instance, was involved in an infamous arms dealing scandal with Iran. Then you need only look 30 years prior to see the effect of ousting the Iranian president. As heinous as some of the middle-eastern regimes are, do they really do have any reason to trust us?

In that context we can cry till the cows come home about the evils of terrorism, but until we change our approach to foreign policy it's simply inevitable.

Nice sarcasm there btw ;) Be interesting to see a reply that doesn't continue in a personal vein.

My vote for the country that should get the blame: Palestine. No, never mind, they don't have a country quite yet. But I am sure billions and billions of dollars have been sent for aid and for the development projects to the PLO or the Palestine lands know formerly as the lands that were owned by the Arabs has been wasted and the people in this "land" are not having their lives improved. Just another success story if you ask me....

I'm going to take a deep breath and just ask you to explain where you've obtained this information?

How can one claim God cares to judge a fornicator over judging a lying, conniving bully? I guess you would if you are the lying, conniving bully.
