Filing taxes for 2013

Hi

I came on a K1 visa in July 2013, now in the process of AOS (just got EAD approved). Do I need to file taxes for 2013?

if you didnt work how you going to file taxes but your spouse can file and include you.

No income = no tax filing for you.

But your spouse will likely benefit from filing jointly with you for 2013. Otherwise he will have to file "Married Filing Separately" which would likely be more taxes for him. It's a little complicated the first year because your UK income must be reported, but is allowed a foreign income exclusion, so not really taxed. So figure out what you earned in the UK during the calendar year 2013. It is self reported so you don't have to have some formal form. Just work it out and conver to US dollars. Tax topics pop up when it is time to file...late January most likely. You may read IRS Publication 519 if you want some official information before then.
