Hey guys,

- My fiancee doesn't make enough according to the federal poverty guidelines. But my in-laws are willing to also support me. My father in-law gets money from the government because he

is a 100% disabled. He's a retired veteran. (He got injured in Vietnam) Does he still make a good candidate to be another supporter besides my fiancee?

- She still lives at home. Can only her parents support me or also her siblings?

- Do they need as much prove from secondary supporters as from my fiancee?

- Do they take in account the amount of savings my supporters have?

I think this is all! I would really appreciate it if you took the time to answer this, thank you in advance!

- Britt & Kristin

The USC petitioner still needs to fill out an I-134 and provide their supporting documents, even if they do not meet the requirement. There is no combining of incomes with an I-134, so you need to choose 1 co-sponsor that meets the requirement for their own household size plus the foreign fiance(e). The co-sponsor will need to provide their own I-134 and supporting financial documents.

Any USC or LPR.

what's LPR? And do they have to live in the same household?

This still doesn't answer my question if my father in-law can support me... But thanks for the rest of the information, I appreciate it!

An LPR is a legal permanent resident. A co-sponsor can have residence anywhere in the US and its territories. They do not have to live with you or be related to you.

I do not know if your father-in-law can successfully be your co-sponsor because I do not know his household size or income. That is something you would know. You need a co-sponsor that meets the income requirement for their own household size plus the foreign fiance(e). Here is the chart to see how much is needed per household size > http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864p.pdf
