How long after visa approved do I have to enter the US?

Hi people I'm sure this has been asked and answered somewhere else on more than one occasion but I'm unable to find any information, I am just about to start the visa application for an IR1 all done from within the UK. I have somewhat of a plan when I want to leave the country and leave my job etc, due to pension rights and gratuities therefore I want to know how long I have once my application has been processed and accepted to enter the US? I have seen that a few people have had everything go through in 6 months ish doing it the DCF route.

AFTER the visa interview, you have 6-ish months to transit into the USA and immigrate.

The cool bits? You can turn around at the airport in the USA, same day, and go back to the UK, for up to 6 months without any additional paperwork.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

If you're filing DCF, you could easily be process complete and visa in hand within 6 months (possibly half that, depending on how fast the embassy moves). You'll get 6 months to use the visa from the date of your medical exam.

* I-130/CR-1 visa by Direct Consular Filing in London
3rd May 2013 - Married in London
7th May 2013 - I-130 filed
4th June 2013 - NOA2 (approved)
16th July 2013 - Interview (approved)
30th July 2013 - POE San Francisco
29th August 2013 - 2 year green card arrived

* Removal of Conditions (RoC) via California Service Centre
1st May 2015 - 90 day RoC window opened
6th May 2015 - I-751 filed (delivered 8th May, cheque cashed 18th May)
7th August 2015 - Approved / GC production
27th August 2015 - 10 year green card arrived

* Naturalisation (Citizenship) via Phoenix Lockbox

* San Francisco Field Office:
1st May 2016 - N-400 window opened
20th August 2016 - N-400 filed
26th August 2016 - NOA1
13th September 2016 - Biometrics

12th January 2017 - Biometrics (again)
30th May 2017 - Interview (approved)
7th June 2017 - Oath
