My fiancee is from mexico and she is divorced. I was idiot and I did not translate it when I first sent the K1 application pakage. They sent me a letter telling me that the document must be translated to english.

I have a few questions about the document translation.

On the letter is states that the the translation must be done WORD-FOR-WORD. well, as we all know, word-for-word translations make almost no sence, should I be afraid that they will reject the translation?

Im trying to keep the format of the translations as close a possible but there are all sorts of seals and image on the border of the document. what did you guys do with your documents that needed translation?

what about the signatuires on the certificate, do I photoshop them in to the translated document?

where can I find examples of how they want a translated document to look?

I do not think you need the exact same border/same paper for translation. I got my birth certificate translated at the court and for the signature part, they just put "signed" they do not copy the signature over to the translated document, you will need to bring the original and the translated with you.

I had to translate my fiancees birth certificate from dominican republic and what I did was translate it word for word but it has to make sense when ur reading it in english bc as u very well know the way it reads in spanish is sometimes backwards in english....so translate it so that it flows and reads exactly the way it reads in spanish and as far as the seals and stamps I put in exactly the spot where the stamp is on the translation ....seal stating blah blah blah year ?? And so on....and signatures you just put signature and the name of the petson exactly how its written.....and last but not least u must make a statement stating that u are translating thisdocument yoirself bc u are fluent or completely bilingual and competent enough to translate from spanish to english and that the translation is true and correct... not necesarily in that order but something to that extent....and must notarize your translation with ur signature.....hope that helps and I didnt confuse u more than u already are....good luck

Are you trying to do the translations yourself? If I remember correctly, they need to be certified. A professional translation company knows how to translate the seals, signatures, stamps, etc.

I used this company recently, they are cheap ($33/page) and FAST (1-2 day turnaround)

You do not have to use a certified translator just someone competent to translate the language....look it up as a searchon uscis website thats what I did
